death doula services

i believe in fate.
one week after i finished my death doula program, my dad suddenly passed away. the hospice program that i trained with connects you with someone at the end of their life once you graduate. i thought i would be meeting a stranger to help doula through death, but instead, fate gave me my father. it was during that time with him, that it solidified that this is the work i was meant for. he initatied me into this vocation, and for that i am eternally grateful.
through this work, i have learned that people don’t put much thought into their deaths. it is tragic to me that people put more thought into what happens to all of their belongings and finances, but not into the process of death itself. death is an incredibly sacred moment, just like birth. every human deserves to die with dignity, grace, love, and care. are just a few questions most people don’t think to ask when approaching the end of their lives:
who do you want in the room at the end? who do you not want in the room? would you like music? what about smells? would lotion feel good? what beauty can we surround you with that would feel nourishing? are you afraid to die? would you like someone to listen? would you like to talk about it? are there any unspoken words you would like spoken? can i call someone for you? would you like to create something special for your loved ones to remember you by?
the medicine i bring to this work is vast and diverse. every dying person and their family has different needs and desires. my primary focus is on the dying. as a doula, it is my job to make sure that the dying are able to leave this earth in a way that feels most true to them. however, i also offer ongoing support for their loved ones after they have passed.
we were never meant to do any of this alone, and i would love to walk with you and your family through this process. i feel at home with the dying, and i am so grateful to get to have death be my greatest teacher. if anything i said lit up something inside of you, i would love to meet you.
